Shadow over the water


When I first spotted this crane on the shore of Lake Fayetteville, she was standing about 30 yards away, routinely stretching her long wings. Just as I got close enough to take a shot, she flew, leaving me cursing and struggling with my lens cap and shooting blind over the water. I didn’t think I got anything worth keeping until I got home and saw this, and it quickly became one of my favorites.
